11 mo only wants to feed himself!
« on: July 26, 2006, 20:50:32 pm »
Hi- ever since my 11 mo little boy developed the ability to pinch, he has refused any food we try to give him by spoon.  He's very independent but because he was born at a low weight we really like to see him eat &gain weight! Does anyone have any ideas for finger foods we can give our 11 mo.that are tasty, easy to hold and perhaps colorful? Here are his favorites so far:
~cheddar cheese (mushed up into balls)
~ground chicken
~pieces of watermelon, canteloupe
~pieces of peaches/nectarines
~sweet potatoe pie cut up in cubes
~SmartPuffs cheese puffs
~Gerber finger foods

Any additional suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks, Joy

My DS loves to feed himself at mo too and we have found raisins, banana, strawberrys any fruit really and anything that can be cut up and left to go cold DS is quite partical to sausages.

Love

I find blueberries and grapes cut small are good. Raisins are quite good and chocolate covered raisins for a treat. Ginger biscuits go soggy. Depending on teeth rice cakes are good finger food too.

Things that have worked well for us are blueberries (the favorite), peas, carrot pieces (cooked of course), mango, zucchini pieces, pasta and beets.
