Canadian whole fat yogurt...does it exist?
« on: July 27, 2006, 17:28:21 pm »
Just calling out to my Canadian sisters to point me in the direction of an accesible whole mik yogurt...the best I can find is 3.5% MF in Little Ones-but they are sweetened with fruit & I was hoping for plain. I live in Saskatchewan &  I have access to Superstore, Sobey's,Safeway & Co Op Marketplace. My American friends have pointed out the Stoneyfield Farms & Yo Baby brands (14% MF), which I can't find.

Take care everyone..

Erin

I noticed that you have access to Safeway...in the organic/natural foods section of our local Safeway they carry "Brown Cow" cream-top yogurt. It's available in a bunch of flavors as well as plain. I know that Brown Cow makes low-fat yogurts as well, but these cream-top ones are the real, full-fat thing. They are yummy!!! :) :) :)

I give DS Astro Balkan Style Natural Yogurt. It's 6% MF and has no added sugar. The ingredients are only 'milk ingredients, active bacterial culture'. Ds loves it, especially when I add chunks of fruit to it. It's container is pretty easy to spot...it's a red and white one with a cow on it!

Thanks for the tips girls, I'll give it another try this weekend. My next stop was going to be a Natural/Health Food Store.

Yo Baby and Stoneyfield Farms brand yogurt is available in Loblaws Superstores. They do not have it in the regular dairy section. Here in Toronto you can pick it up in both the Kosher Dairy Section and the Organic Dairy Section which are both separate from the regular dairy. Ella absolutely LOVES the Vanilla and the Banana yogurt they make, I mix them in with her oatmeal to make it creamy and taste good, also extra calcium to boot. Before I could find the Yo Baby I gave her the full fat balkan yogurt, but it is very sour and she didn't like it. Good luck finding it!

Hi there
I get plain yogourt in the health food dep of superstore. It's president choice brand which we like a lot. It seems to me that we can't get it in the other regular brands anymore, I think they suppose everyone is on a diet or something.
