When I wake him...
« on: July 31, 2006, 13:50:58 pm »
Ok I hate to complain about too much sleep, but I am going to!!!!!!  My DD didn't sleep EVER so I hate complaining...but I am going to hahaha

Anyway, we have been putting my son to sleep earlier without the dreamfeed, and he's waking at the same time 5:30.  GREAT!  He's going to be 10 weeks old tomorrow and sleeps from 8ish to 5:30.  Not bad!!!!  But after I feed him, I put  him back to sleep (5:30 is too early to start my day) and he sleeps until 10:30 am.  It's hard to leave the house in the morning so I want to wake him up at 8ish in the morning.  BUT the thing is when I do this he just isn't hungry.  He hardly eats.

Any advice???

Hi
The best thing to do in this situation is to offer either a top-up feed (to last until 8am) and then a full feed at 8am. OR a full feed at 0530 and a top up when you wake him at 8am.  Then you would feed at 11am - presuming you are on a 3hr EASY.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the reply since I am having the same problem w/ my 2 month old.  She'll last from the DF to about 5:30/6ish (sometimes 4:30 but roughly the early morning time).  I'll try the top-up feed tonight.  I was giving her a full feed in the morning and then having her sleep or 3 hours (like an ES in the morning) and then starting EASY but several other moderators mentioned that this might cause problems with naps or the rest of the days routine.  I'm still just starting out w/ EASY so I wouldn't be able to tell if there was a problem yet or not  :-[ but I'm going to try your top-up suggestion and start the full feed at 8AM.  Some mentioned starting at 9AM might be too late? Is 8AM much better?  I'm not sure I understand the rationale behind this one yet??  Thanks!!
