Napping and Solids and Feeding
« on: August 04, 2006, 18:23:53 pm »
I hope this is the right place to post this thread so here goes.

I am ready to add more solids to my DD's diet and in a month (or so) we'll be dropping the dreamfeed.  The problem with all of this is her naps.

My DD is 6 mths : Here is our schedule

7:30 Wake

E: 7:45 (6-7 oz)
Solids 8:30 (1tbs cereal + 1tbs fruit or veggie)
S 9:00-10:45
E 11:30 (6-7 oz)
A
S 1:00-2:30
E 3:00
A
S 4:30-5:30
E Solids 6:00(30) (1 1/2 tbs cereal + 2 tbs fruit and veggie)
   Bottle 6:45 (6-7 oz)
S 7:30 (8:00)

DF 10:30

I have tried extending both awake time and times between bottles....neither works and to be honest I like her schedule for napping, I just don't know how to fit the meals and bottles in so that she's not spending all of her awake eat KWIM?

Any help would be much appreciated!! TIA

you could give teh morning bottle at 11 or so when she wakes up, then a solids lunch around 12:00.
3 boys:  D-8, L-5, and C-3 and one more little one due 11/11

Thank you sophiems.

Is there anything I should be doing for dinner...should I change the morning?

We didn't add the 3rd meal until Tyler dropped the catnap...we just had a really hard time fitting it all in! I know where you're coming from about feeling like she spends all of her time eating, but it's only a temporary thing. She will probably be ready to drop the catnap within the next month or 2, like it or not, and that will give you lots more time. I think your routine looks great the way it is!

Thanks everyone...I wouldn't have thought about adding the 3rd meal except that she is begging for food by dinner (she wants her bottle because it fills her faster, but then proceeds to eat a fair amount of solids).  She gets a bottle between 3-4 but by 6:00 pm she seems to be starving so I thought the thrid meal would help...maybe she's growing?  I've tried adding to her bottles, but she stops drinking between 6-7 oz regardless of what we put in.  I am going to try to move her dinner up and see if that helps...again thanks!!
