Yes, his teething could definitely interfere with his sleep patterns - hopefully when they have cut through, his sleep will go back to normal.

If you can get him to go to 1:30, that should be fine.  Ideally you are aiming for 2 - and hopefully when he is back in his normal patern of sleep in the morning, you will be able to do this.

I am not sure what to suggest when your DD starts school - I would say just play it by ear, and see how things go for the first few days, and then try to readjust the routine.

Hi Paula...

Things are going ok so far, just not sure what will do with the new hours will be having with DD schooling.as I no when I return to Australia I wont have DH there to watch Ds and I don't want to have family getting or watching Ds all the time.I will never get 5min to myself,so would like to try and start working in a new routine about one week before we go,as it will all change with the time difference.

What age do they normally drop another bottle?Harrison is on 3 now and that is ok.When I go to Australia he will be 9.5month closer to 10months.
I was thinking i will be able to get him to have a cat nap in the morning which might want him to go down not long after 12 for a bigger sleep which would work in well, but that would only work if he is on only 2 bottles a day.And he will go bed earlier,so really not sure what he will do.

This is what we are doing now.

7am awake and 210ml
7.30am breakfast with 60ml formula and some water
10am-11/11.15 sleep

12 lunch
1pm 210ml
1.30/3.30 sleep

4pm snack
6pm tea
7.30 pm 210ml and to bed.

He was getting too tired leaving him until 1.30/2pm for a sleep so went back to 1.30pm for a sleep and he goes ok until his need feeds.
just need to try and work out the sleeps?
Any Advice?

Andrea...

At the age of about 10 months Thomas dropped down to 2 bottles.

He would take 8oz in the morning - followed by 4 oz in his cereal.  A yogurt in the afternoon for a snack, and then about 9.5oz in the evenings.  We are still on this routine at around 13 months.

When we dropped the afternoon bottle he did not miss it at all - He had been fussing on it when teething etc, so we decided to drop it, and he has been drinking more in his other two bottles.

Paula...

What age did you start giving sandwiches for lunch?
Also for lunch he is just having fruit, should I be looking at giving him more?

He i going ok with no snack in the morning and is having one in the afternoon, but i think I will have to stretch his bed time out to 8pm as he is waking at 6.30pm,but that wont be a problem when Dd starts back school as we don have to get up earlier.

what age should ibe looking at giving him his breakfast first then his bottle?

I have been looking at what I could start doing with DD finishing at 3pm,can you please give some feed back on it please?

6.30am awake and bottle
7.30am breakfast
9.30-10.30am sleep

11.30am lunch
12.30 bottle
1-2.30pm sleep(this could probably be bought forward earlier if i gave the bottle earlier,or when he doesn't have it anymore)

3.30pm snack
6pm tea
7-7.30pm bottle and to bed.

I would really like to no what I am going to do with his sleeping/feeding etc before I get to aus,as will be easier for me to get his body clock worked out quicker.
He will be 9.5months,when we arrive, but closer to 10months.

I have also thought back to what Dd was like when she was the same age and i no she always had a cat nap in the morning normally 20min and a longer one at lunch but she was always down by 12noon,as she was up so early.I have worked out something can you give some in put into that to please?
You have to forgive me I like to be organised and no what I will be doing.

OK here it is...

6-6.30am awake and either bottle or breakfast,if having separate.
7-7.30am what ever didn't have up top,if having separate.

1/2hr cat nap(This one here time will all depend what am doing, will be going to the gym so 3 times a week cat nap time could be at 10am,and the other days could be 10.30am

11.30/12 lunch and bottle if he is still having it.

12.30-2.30pm sleep

3.30pm snack
5.30pm tea
7pm bottle and bed.

From what I no our days will be like this should work in OK,been I am only there for 3months and don't see anyone for 9months of the year, would really like to be able to go out  and not be restricted to the house 24/7.So am Ideas or tips you have for the above can you pretty please show them my way...

Thank you so much for your help Paula...

Hi Andrea,

We started giving Thomas finger foods etc at around 7 months.  It took him a little while to master them, but he soon turned into a pro.

With regards to lunch, you could start introducing more types of food to him.  Just remember when you introduce a food, to stick with it for at least 3 days to ensure he does not have a reaction to it.

With regards to breakfast and bottle, DS is nearly 14 months, and he still has his bottle before his cereal.  It is up to you.  When you start introducing a sippy and he is taking most of his milk in a sippy cup you can then give him his milk with his cereal.  Unfortunately DS will not drink his milk from a Sippy and wants his bottle, although I don't mind as it is the cuddle factor - I get to cuddle him which I rarely get to do these days.

It is really difficult to say which routine is going to work for you.  Unfortunately due to the fact that it is a few months away, you cannot predict how your lo is going to be.  I suggest to just watch him and when the time comes see what type of routine you can implement.  Sorry that I cannot be much help with regards to this.

Paula xx

No Paula you have been a help, thank you...

I no with my DD she had a bottle until she was 2 but she had it with the stout, she didn't like it out of a sippy cup.

Is Ds too young to try a sandwiches and some fruit?

I have the routines in my head,so I will just see how he goes.My Ds is pretty independent he was crawling at 6months and standing at 7months and now he walks holding onto a kids toy walker,so I kind of have to watch how much I get him to do by himself before we fly, other wise it will be a long and messy flight.

Any ideas on anything new to try for lunch?

Thank you Again

Andrea...

I don't think so- does your DS do other finger foods?  The only way you are going to know is to try.  Perhaps give him a small square of bread first, and then progress from there.

Lunch ideas - I have pasted a link to the recipes board under solid foods, this may help you out.  When we started weaning, we introduced DS onto the jarred food, this way he had a variety, and then slowly introduced finger food, which he loves.

Hi Paula,

I tried him on bread he isn't interested.Have tried him on banana too and just played with it.I think I might wait until I get to Australia,as I don't really want him to only get 80% use to the idea and have the flight with masshed food all over me.I am thinking the flight will be stressfull enough for me without added stress. :P

He is going good on the bottles now.I noticed last night,he started to play around with his milk, but did get him to take the whole amount. Then at lunch today he only took 140ml of his 210ml.Should I just keep note on this and see how he goes?

Also would you mind looking at this and tell me if you think this is enough sleep etc for a 10month old for when we are in Australia. It is starting to worry me on what I will get him into when i arrive,as I want to no what I am doing so I can do it as soon as I arrive.

6.30am awake and bottle
7.30am breakfast
9.30/9.45-10.00/10.15 cat nap sleep

11.00lunch
11.30bottle
12-2.30pm sleep

3.30pm snack
6.00tea(this might have to be 5 or 5.30pm depends on his wake up time)
6.30-7pm bottle and bed.

Thanks
Andrea...

Andrea,

I am no expert on sleep - your best bet would be to post in the naps section to see what the ladies say there.

As for him playing around with the bottles - what size teat are you using?  It could be that he is getting bored with the flow coming out to slowly.  May be time to change the size of the teat.

As for offering the finger foods - it will take a while for him to get used to the different foods.  Keep on trying and make it fun.  Good idea to wait until you get back to Australia.

Thanks for that Paula...

He has a 3 way teat, tried him on faster one this morning and that went OK.Am going to get the stout one in the Advent brand to see how he goes with that.

I have got a reply on the sleep from another Aussie mum,and she said her little one went to one sleep at 10.5months.I have the idea in my head so will wait and see how we go.

Think will wait until Aus for finger food...

Thanks again

Andrea...

Andrea I am not a huge fan of the 3 way teats - I felt they were a hinderance and slower then the fast teats.

Andrera,

Pleased you got some help on the nap boards.  Now that I think of it Thomas went to one nap at around 11 months - although we do have the odd day when he does still need 2 naps - so we structure around him.
