Yaya,

DS is 13 months old and he still has his night time bottle.

I find that it is an easy way to wind him down after a long day and it just helps him relax and get ready for bed.

Up until a year, they do still need 21oz a day - this includes milk in their cereal, yogurts, cheeses etc.

Hi Yaya.

My DS is 7 months and still gets a nighttime bottle before bed as part of his bedtime routine.  DS knows after his bath, storybook and bottle it's time for bed.

IMHO the last bottle to be dropped is the bedtime one.  My ds is almost 15 months and his sole bottle is STILL the one right before bed.  I feel like it helps him sleep better too because it is a long time to go from dinner to breakfast the next morning.  Especially if we want him to sleep into a decent hour.

Why don't you drop the mid day bottle and just give him AM and PM for now??

HTH!! and GOOD LUCK!
Judy

Oops   :-[ :-[  Yaya...I read your post incorrectly!!!!

Did not realize that your lo slept better WITHOUT the nighttime bottle.  If it is NOT causing a problem with his sleep and he can STILL sleep till 6:30AM....I would not reintroduce the bottle!!!!  If he is not waking up hungry in the middle of the night or at 5AM, that is GREAT.

If he starts to get a little hungry, maybe a snack with his bedtime story....or move dinner a tiny bit later....

Sorry for the wrong information in my last post!!! :-[ :-[

Because DS gets all hyper in his bath the bottle afterwards is really part of the wind down routine. He loves it and sleeps great at night. And if he doesn't sometimes I think there might be other reasons for it? He doesn't fall asleep on the bottle though (unless he is ill) but he is nice and drowsy and cuddly afterwards

About 21 oz (not less than that) which is about 600ml... It is also better to not feed milk too close to the meal (esp if there is meat or greens) because the iron and vitamins can't be absorbed as well by the body... Ped told us that

Yaya,

At 10 months, the 21 oz does not have to include just milk.  It can include his bottles, milk on his cereal / cooking, yogurts and cheeses.

DS only has 2 bottles (10 oz each) a day and then he gets an oz or two in his cereal in the morning
