Early waking.... what should I do?
« on: August 19, 2006, 01:08:23 am »
My LO is 4 months old on 4hr EASY. Feeding time: 6.30, 10:30, 2:30, 6:30, DF: 11:00
Bedtime 7ish.
She used to wake up around 3, eat 3 oz, goes back to sleep until 6:30.
Recently, she makes some baby noise around 4:30, goes back to sleep for 40 minutes and wakes up playing for around 30 minutes. Then she starts crying... hungry. (5:20ish)
It's almost her morning feed. What should I do? Should I give her half of her normal feed and put her back to bed? Feed her at 6:30 again?

Hi there,

Your lo is only 4 months, so if she is waking at 5:20ish cause she's hungry, I'd give her the full feed and then just start the 4 hour EASY from there.    Why would you feed her at 6:30 again?  You may notice that if she eats at 5:20 she may sleep longer than 6:30 too.  As she gets a little older, she'll probably eventually just wake around 6:30 instead of 5:20.  At that age my son was sleeping from 6:30-5:30, but then for the past month he's now waking around 6:30 or 7.  Definitely watch your babies cues and not the clock.  By doing that she'll naturally start eating more during the day and sleeping more at night.

Good Luck

Michelle

Ditto to Michelle in that LO is hungry. Perhaps a growth spurt?

But my LO is still sleepy. After I feed her, she'll normally go back to sleep until her normal wake up time :-\
So, do I feed her full feed and put her back to bed? Rather confused... :-[

I would try a half feed and see how that goes. If it doesn't do the trick then just go for a full feed.
