Thank you so much for the reply and the great advice!
Answers to your questions:
1. Does he wake up at the exact same time every night, or does it range? If it is pretty close to the exact same time it may be a habitual waking. If it ranges it is hunger.
**The time varies anywhere from 1:30 AM to 2:30 AM depending on when he is put down. If it is 9ish, it will be closer to 1:30, and if 10ish, then closer to 2:30**
2. Does he take a full feed during the night? If it is yes, he needs the calories.
**Yes, a very full feed. My breasts are very full and in 15 minutes he has made at least one very soft**
3. Do you give him a pacifier or dummy? If you give the passi, does he go back to sleep or does he start crying again? If he goes back to sleep, it is probably habitual waking. If he cries again he just needs more food.
** He hates pacifiers in general. If I give him one, he will cry and start the hunger cry.**
We know he can't make it completely through the night. But, we were hoping if we give him a dream feed at 11:30/12, we could get him to go through until 4 or 5am. At this point, after being put down at 9/10, he wakes up at 1:30/2:30, 4:30/5:30 and then 6:30/7 at which point we start the day. Should we try a bigger feed at midnight?
Thank you so much.
