dropping to 2 bottles
« on: August 25, 2006, 12:55:54 pm »
I was just wonering when to drop to 2 bottles. I just dropped to 3 about 2 weeks ago, and his formula intake has still been going down since. We are still on 2 solides a day, as I would like him to keep drinking at least 20 oz/day. I give him a yogourt at lunch to compensat.

at the moment we are eating at
7am bottle 6-7 oz
8am cereal with fruit (2-3 oz)
12 veggie(2-3oz) and yogourt (1/3 cup)
4 bottle 4-5 oz
7 bottle 7-8 oz

Does anyone have any suggestions on tweeking his schedule a bit, and adding another solid. I did look at easy routines ect...and tried a few different ways nothing works too well. TIA

At 10 months we went to 2 bottles HOWEVER calum is on 3 meals per day with snacks, his meal consist of meat, veg, fish, pasta, rice, etc..... and I offer custard, yogurt and fruit - so he gets a balanced diet.

to tweak your routine move the 4pm bottle to before his afternon nap(but don't feed to sleep) then offer solids at 4 or 4.30pm

My Ds is a bit younger then your little one and we recently went to 3 bottles a day. This is our routine for an idea..

7am 210ml
7.30 cereal

12noon lunch
1pm 210ml

4pm snack
6pm tea
7.30/8pm 210ml

He seems to go pretty good with this.

Hope this is some help

We also went to 2 bottles at around 10 months, but Thomas too was on 3 meals per day plus snacks, and made up the lost calories with Yogurts.

Thanks everyone. I'll keep offering 3 bottles, and try to feed lunch a bit earlier and to give his 2nd bottle before bedtime. This way I'll be able to give another solid meal. Although Miguel never had much of an appetit. Can't wait for him to crawl or walk, this way he may want more food and formula.
And has anyone noticed their LO 9 month growth spurt. I'm still waiting, and may change then.

Wow, calum can really drink up. He seems to have a good appetit.
