OMG - she ate an entire Happy Meal
« on: August 25, 2006, 20:06:49 pm »
I took Katie to the mall yesterday and got her one of those chicken nugget happy meals (4 nuggets, small fries, 8 oz milk jug) --- and she ate the entire thing.  She's 17 months old.  I didn't know she was capable of eating that much at once.  (And so healthy too  ::) )

I think Scotty could eat that if I gave him one  :P

But I will wait until he is a year. I love McD!

Scary isn't it? The first time we gave Ella french fries was the first time she showed us she really did know sign language. She immediately started furiously signing "more" and "eat".  We thought she didn't know them yet, but I guess she had just never wanted more of mummy's yummy turnip purees.   :P ;D

Hey Stacy,

What kind of therapy did you do? Curious as I was a behavioral therapist for a number of years. I wish I could have the guts to use the principles on my own lo.... ::)

Funny, Lilah has never latched onto french fries.  Maybe because we never go to McDonalds! ;D

I also worked with children with autism, and boy can food be a motivator!  Lots of my kiddos loved french fries, too.

I am a huge fan of fast food so, as bad as this sounds...I could not wait for ds to get older so he could eat it with me.

Well, I have TRIED to give him Chicken McNuggets, Cheeseburgers etc...and he will not eat it.  He will nibble on fries, but that's about it.  So depressing as DH hates fast food.   :-\ :-\

I don't even want to admit this......I went to McDs and got chips and 3 nuggets for Andy (15 mths).....I normally make my own at home for a quick meal...but we were out....anyway...I got myself a cheese burger...he motioned that he wanted a bite....then I swear it was so funny....both hand grabbed the burger and he plowed through 3/4 of it!!! It was like it was the best thing he has ever eaten (so much for mummys home cooking).  Everytime I went to take it off him he wasn't very happy.......I kept looking around embarrassed that someone would be taking footage for one of those shows like 'Honey we are killing the kids'!!!  Needless to say I wont be doing that again in a hurry....but it has got me thinking that I could do homemade burgers!

In the US you can get apples instead of fries, but that's about the extent of the healthiness.  No fish sticks to be found here.

Sadly no -- we Americans are apparently just burger/chicken nugget/chicken sandwich folks.  That sounds really good though, wish McD's would get a bit more diverse here :)

The american healthy options at McD's are not so tasty - other FF places have much better tasting healthier options.

I admit that DS has had McD's - he loves to carry his own burger or nuggets around - I have taken to cutting into 1/4ths to reduce the mess.  We try not to eat this often, but I swear I agree with the guy from "supersize me" - there is something addictive about McD's!  We didn't eat it for a year and a half after the movie, eating at In and Out instead, but McD's is a fast option on those days after work when hubby has also had a long day and I just can't deal with cooking or going to the store.  DS INHALES the fries, but doesn't like ketchup yet (thank goodness).
