help! baby "fighting" sleep
« on: August 27, 2006, 22:36:20 pm »
My 4 mo. old had been falling to sleep so well until last Wednesday!  I could put him down for naps and to bed at night when he would start his sleepy cues and he was GREAT.  He seemed to love being swaddled and would kind of make some sleepy noises, suck on his pacifier and eventually just fall asleep.  Well, Wedneday he had his 4 mo. vaccinations and since then (don't know if it's just a coincidence) his whole personality seems to have changed.  I feel like I hardly know this kid.  Now, when he starts his sleepy cues, if I put him down - he screams.  During nap time, he'll look like he's falling asleep (eyes rolling and half closing) and suddenly, he will just start crying a screaming.  I have tried to give him a pacifier or bottle (which has always worked before) and he will scream even harder.  We have tried all the things we used to do to help him sleep when he was particularly tired and if it works at all, it takes forever.  We were trying to put him to bed for like 4 hours Thursday night.  Eventually he falls asleep at night, but we have to work and work at it.  Then he wakes up like every 2-3 hours (we had it so he was only waking 1-2 times per night before Wednesday).  I've looked for advice about this but nothing really seems to fit our situation.  Anyone have ANY ideas??  I'm thinking I told one two many people what a laid back baby I have and I finally jinxed myself!

HI,

Do you have either of Tracy's books?  Do you follow an EASY routine?  If so could you post it and we may see something that needs tweaking.

Also if he is bottle or breastfed?  Does he fall asleep independently?
