Hello,  I have a 17 week old how use to sleep for about 1 hour for naps and sleep about 5 to 6 hours at night.  She was on a 2 and half hour feed and on e.s.a.y.  She can fall asleep with little help.  This past week, she has been waking every 2 to 3 hours at night, she is very easy to send back to sleep, I just give her her paci and she drifts off to sleep again but keep waking.  She also has done to 45 minute naps and a time is 1 hour.  I have been attempting to stretch her A time and encourage longer naps in order to stretch her feed to 3 h and eventually 4 h.  Am I on the right track.  Is this going to fix my night time issue? ??? ??? ???

what is your lo's routine?  maybe we can help you with the transition to longer times between feedings.

She does need her paci to fall asleep however when she fall into a deep sleep it falls out and she does not wake.  However I do give it back to her many times at night when she wakes (lately).  I have a feeling that it is becoming a prop!!

Her routine goes something like this:

7Am wake BF
7:30 cereal (we just started and she doesn't even swallow any yet)
8:30 S. I have been stretching this cause she will wake after 45 min to 1 hour but still be tired
10:00 E
10:30 A I have been stretching this as she use to only stay up for 1 hour last week.
11:30 S
1:00 E
1:30 A
2:30 S
4:00 E
4:30 A
5:30 catnap no longer then 45 min.
6:15A
7:00 S then bath
7:30 or 8:00 read a story and to bed

10:00 or 10:30 dreamfeed

last couple of days I fed her at 4:00 AM
yesterday at 5:00 and I only let her nurse for 5 min

This subject line sounds like it caem from me...perhaps you could help me too, please?

My pediatrician said to try baby on solids at 4 months. At that point he was sleeping 7hours through the night from 7pm with a DF at 11pm until about 5am. But all of a sudden at 4 months he started waking many times in the night. I tried solids but he hated the cereal so I stopped for a while. Not sure whether it was too soon.

But "Solids or not" has become a side issue which I hardly care about after reading some other posts, and The BIG issues I have, as you can see are:

1. not sleeping  through the night
2. naptimes only 45 minutes.

As for the routine lately I have became a bit unconscious (:) of whether it was a 3 or 4 hour routine as I was just trying to get him to finish his bottle, so its a bitmessed up, but this is my schedule or something like it right now:

6.15 am   Breast feed until we fall off to sleep on the breast in my bed till about 7.45am
7.45 A
9.45 - 10.30 nap
10.30am  Formula 4.5 or 5 oz max
11 A
1pm - 1.45 nap
A
3pm  Formula 4 oz
A
3.45pm -4.30pm  nap
6.pm  Formula 4 oz
A
6.30pm bath ritual with massage
7.15pm Formula 3.5 oz
7.30 pm bed
10 pm Formula 2 oz
1am Formula 2.5 oz
3.45 breast fed 10 minutes
and then last night for e.g. woke up screaming at 3am; ;4am; 5am as he had rolled onto his tummy and could not turn over.

HELP! Please I need some sleep ..........

Thanks Stacy for your help.  Can a Babbie have habitual waking during naps as well as at night?

Maybe that is why she is waking after 45 min. of napping and if this is possible should I follow the plan to solve habitual waking during her day time naps.

Sorry if this is a question that is obvious, but what exactly is the exact right amount of awake time for a 4 hour EASY?
Is there a chart somewhere of the timings for each A and S times for the 4 hour EASY routine?

Stacy,
The theory I am working with is fromt he book Secrets of a baby whisperer, how to soothe calm and connect with your baby.
SHould I be using another book too?
One of the resource guides here refers to page numbers ina book "If your child gets up at 5, do P.U./P.D. (pages 221—224)" in https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=69369.0.
Someone else also told me that Tracy teaches how to move form a 3 hour EASY to a 4 hour EASY, but I dont recal that in the book I read. I am not sure if I should be reading an additional book as well.

when we transitioned, i first went to feeding every 3.5 hours and then after about 2 weeks to 4 hours.  but i did 3.5 hours when my lo was about 14 weeks and then at 16 weeks did 4 hours.  i did like stacy did.  one day, instead of feeding at 10, i fed at 10:20 or so.  when she woke from that morning nap, first we talked in her crib and then changed her diaper and then went to the kitchen, made her bottle, etc.  i just dragged it out and kept talking to her and distracting her so that it didn't seem too bad.  we just kept going like that until it was 4 hours between feeds.

Just wanted to let you guys know that yesterday I moved to the 4 hour EASY, really easily! The first gap was 3 3/4 hours and the next was after 4 hours without a problem. As a result he ate 7oz!!! and 7.5 oz at the next!!! Needless to say I am delighted. So thank you very much.

that's awesome bellymum.

also, at the very top of the website, above the search bar, there are links.  one of them is called "show new replies to your posts".  if you click on that, it brings up the threads you posted on that someone else answered.  that way you can find the threads you wrote in.
