Who needs toys?

Seriously, if I let ds loose in the house and let him do all the following things all day long, it would probably fill his dream day. (as it is now he does some of these on some days anyway)

  • open and close drawers, cabinets, bedroom doors, sliding closet doors, windows
  • go up and down stairs
  • turn all the lights on and off
  • play with buttons on the tv, dvd, stereo, vacuum cleaner (anything with a nob he can twist is even better)
  • let him remove any/all books and CDs/DVDs on the bookshelves
  • push and pull anything that's not too heavy around the house
  • play with the lawn mower
  • open and close the garage door (no, we don't let him do this but he'd sure love to!)

I'd also save LOTS of money and I'd probably get him to settle into naps/bedtime almost instantaneously. ;)

Georgia you just described William's dream day too!! I have to add chasing the dog to the list too lol...

Maybe you and I should create a "dream day experience" for LOs and charge people loads for having their LOs and letting them do all of their dream activities in safety lol...

Yup, we're with you here on the dream day too, but must add climbing on the table and chasing the cat to the list as well.

Yup PJ's dream day, too!  I was just thinking we got some fun toys for his birthday and what a waste.  If he is still like this in the next 6 months I think I am going to ask for membership to Gymboree and/or kindermusic for Christmas and not toys.  He will play with the stacking and sorting blocks for a little bit and does like books/puzzles for a short period of time, but mostly it is exploring things in the house.  Right now up/down stairs is the best.

Yep...add Madelaine onto that list. I have now given her daddy's old cell phone to play wiht and bought her a toy one--both of which she runs around carrying...she also loves to steal the telephone and remote control :)
Oh wait,,,,did you add in playing in the plant dirt :)
How about banging anything off the coffee table??
I have realized that I am not going to buy M anything for her birthday but her first doll :)...I keep buying stuff as I go along to grow wiht her anyways..there isn't any of them that she really likes.She likes her books for chewing :)

LOL PJ does all of this!! As the list goes on I am nodding my head in agreement.  So many people told us not to waste $ on toys.  (actually we haven't personally bought much, most were gifts)  Anyway, they were right!!

Stacy-that is hilarious about the drawers. M comes to work with me a few days a week and I can't tell you how many times she has jammed her fingers in teh drawer..hasn't figured it out yet but is almost there. When she opens a drawer now..she is very cautious. LOL at the dishwasher.
Have you all ever opened the fridge and let your little one see what's in there?

You forgot standing in front of the full-length mirror and banging on his own face :-)

Oh, and also throwing food down from the high chair and lauging hysterically at the dog when he eats it.

I just put all my tampons in the "locked" closet as I was getting tired of Katie unwrapping them and carting them all over the house.  (Mind you between pg # 1, BF, and pg # 2 I've needed them exactly once since May of 2004, but it would be nice to eventually have them when I need them.)  I'm just glad to hear it's not just her who is fascinated with them.

Sounds like we have quiet the daycare going!!! LOL

You guys forgot unwinding ALL the toilet paper, flushing the toilet until kingdom come, ripping up magazines and best of all, throwing all the cleean folded laundry on the floor!!
