Sleep schedule when teething?
« on: August 29, 2006, 14:58:36 pm »
I am pretty sure my lo is really experiencing her first day of true discomfort due to teething.  My normally happy baby woke up whimpering and whiny...which is not usual at all...her paci that is for sleeping I wasn't about to take from her today!!!  :-\

So, it is now 855am and dd has been sleeping since 820am.  That is 1hr 40mins before she should be napping.... what do I do?  I have no experience with her getting teeth, and am waiting to see if maybe it is her first cold (though i don't think so).  I gave her some baby tylenol because she seemed really uncomfortable and that seemed to help.

How much sleep should I allow her to have if she is teething or even if she does have a cold?

I definitely do not want to harm her night-time sleep....

I would definately say to follow her cues until you are sure she is better or not sick.

I go with the flow when teething, but my limit is 2 weeks and then we get back on track no matter what the status.  The reason for this is that teething is only going to get worse, and they have to just learn to deal with the discomfort.  I find too that Infants Advil (even over Motrin) works best for us for teething pain.  Sleep however should help because that is when they do the most growing, so one would assume that the faster those teeth can push up the better ;D
