same thing on the italian page! its because it goes through an automatic translating program which translates LITERALLY and leave some words in English which it doesnt recognise. Same thng happens if u put a text through an automatic translator on the web....

Japanese one looks well cool!

H x

yep, looks cool, but full of mistakes too!!!

my favourite one [haven't checked it all, no time for it...]: PU/PD is translated into sth like: Please pick up [meaning: choose] from what's lying down...  :o ::)

and "getting back on track": things that get to the back of a track [but I'm sure if some Japanese were to read it, they would read it as truck not track...]

lol...  :P

LOL Helen, that is quite funny. But I think it is so bad that the whole translation thing is actually useless. How is anybody supposed to understand what is going on?

I needed to add translation links so I could help a Japanese person find some help for her little one.
It's not perfect but no automatic translation is. Maybe remarking how rubbish it is could accompanied with an alternative solution next time?
Suffice to say the Japanese lady has found it useful or she's too polite to tell me otherwise; either way at least she expressed her thanks.

Ach i didn't want to be rude, the German one is just no help at all. It actually might do the opposite and it is impossible to understand anything. If there is somebody who doesn't understand English very well and wants it translated to German to help her LO I am happy to do that. I think because the German translation is so bad it might actually cause more harm that it is use.

Andy,
I'm sure all you wanted to do is help  :-* :-* :-* for that

I'm not Japanese but I speak Japanese quite fluently [at least that's what my Japanese employers tell me- I'm an interpreter...] and believe me, there are lots and lots of mistakes. it's not anybody's fault, that's just how those softwares work. and sure, one can find help there, but one can get confused too...

There are over 300,000 messages in the message boards so software translation is the only way forward. The software, which is constantly changing and developing, is not intended to give a 100% accurate translation but to give people a basic idea of what's being said. If then they need further translation they can either hire a translator, get a friend to help or ask on the boards.
Hope this clarifies the purpose of the translation software.
Andy

Thanks for the offer to help translate yaya I'll keep you in mind just in case! Cool shades on your little man too!
