waking but not crying..should I go to her?
« on: August 30, 2006, 11:18:29 am »
Hi,
My 2 month old has started to wake at 4am the last few nights, she was sleeping till 6.30/7.
When she wakes she just lies there kicking her legs, but not crying. If she cried I'd have no problem feeding her as she's still very young but when she's not crying I'm not sure what to do. This morning she woke at 4.30 and I left her till 5.20 then checked on her and she had kicked the covers off, as soon as she saw me she cried (quite hard) so I fed her.
Should I have gone to her? or should I leave her till she cries? (Also I had to re-cover her)

Any advice would be great, thanks
L

Hi Lolly...

I would say leave her.It will help you to get more sleep and help her to learn to entertain herself...I wish my son would be so peaceful when he wakes up!

Good luck and welcome ;D

thanks for the reply - I'll try leaving her - I'm grateful thats shes not crying but I dont want her to get used to being awake for so long in the middle of the night...I wonder would she eventually go back to sleep...not sure

I think she will see no one pays her attention and go back to sleep. In the beginning we made the mistake of putting DS in bed with us,that was a BIG mistake. He did not fall asleep at all. When i hear him waking up i just leave him and about 45min later i go check on him then he has fallen back to sleep (not always but most of the time). When he doesn't go back to sleep i just give him a bottle and leave him alone with his mobile on,just to get that extra bit of sleep.I work so anytime i can sleep,I DO...
But you must see what works for you
