Hi Karita,

Not sure where you live or if you are switching from breast or bottle...but we have had great success with the sippy cups that have a straw that goes right to the bottom and are spill proof.  Our absolute favourite is UK's Boots own sippy with straw cup for 12 months plus.  DS has been using this since 8 months and I was so surprised that he could suck the straw and it is great because he doesn't have to tilt it.  Before that he used the 6 mos + sippy cup from Boots as well and still uses that on occasion.  HTH

HI Karita

Has Kayla ever used a sippy before or have you always stuck to bottles?

Does she take water or juice in a sippy?  Have you ever tried a staw cup? Calum loves his straw cup, it means he doesn't have to tip his head back (like drinking from a sippy).

I could attach picture of the boots one that Aisling and I use if you want  :-\

I am taking it that you want to get rid of the bottles and just use sippys for milk.  I am going to give Natasha a shout because she has successfully done this.

She wont take a straw at all. She used to take sippies for juice, the avent ones that fit into the bottle lid, I used the disposable bottles, so she never really figured out how to hold the cup up. All her bottles are disposables. She can drink sitting up.

I gave her a solid sippy today and she drank her juice out of it (after I posted this) I was suprised.

Should I just switch all the bottles at once or do one bottle at a time?

Kimberley that is great that she took her juice/water in a sippy.
We started giving Catherine a sippy with milk for breakfast and dinner at 8months to get some more into her as she was never a big fan of the bottle. Then at 12months i got rid of the morning bottle all together cold turkey and upped the amount she got with breakfast. At first she didn't drink it all with breakfast so i offered the rest with her morning snack. She now holds it herself and drinks it all with breakfast. The night bottle i though would be around for a while but she lost interest in it just before her birthday so i just upped again the amount she got with dinner. She often leaves a little which i just offer her after her bath.
So you can try going cold turkey and get rid of the bottle and replace it with the sippy if you think she will take it OR start giving her some milk in a cup with meals until she is use to it then get rid of the bottle.
I hope that all made sense and helps. Feel free to ask me anymore questions if you need to  ;)

I'm working on switching my Lo from a bottle to a sippy as well.  He takes his juice and water from a sippy but refused to take his milk from a sippy.

I've been trying to give him his milk from a sippy with the straw.  He takes a few sips here and there but he won't finish it like he would if he had a bottle.  I'm hoping the more consistant I am with this method that he would forget about the bottle.  I guess I'll also offer him some milk in a cup from time to time, when I feel ready to clean up the mess.

good luck to the both of us....cheers!
