I'm trying to add a Christmas ticker to my signature ( ::) I know, but I'm a Chirstmas lover) but it only shows the code.  I've seen two on other signatures.  What's the trick?

You have too much other information in your signature.  You are only allowed a maximum of 255 characters in your signature.  If you look directly beneath the signature box you will see how many characters you have remaining.
