I have been dreamfeeding for two weeks and have found that it has caused no end of problems, Before dreamfeeding, my DD was sleeping from 8pm through to 3am, sometimes 4. Then she would generally go through till 6ish and with resettling we could get her through to 7 or 8am for her breakfast feed. Now she is waking at 1:30 - 2am. We have to resettle her because she yells out, not just cries and she wakes our 9YO son who sleeps in the next room. We feed her at 3am and she goes back down, only to wake up in the early hours yelling again.
I generally feed her at around 11pm and have been making it a little later to see if it helps. I have also been giving her a larger dreamfeed and 3am feed to try to stretch her through to morning without the constant resettles. It worked this morning, but now she doesn't want her breakfast feed and has been worming around and rejecting her day feeds when only half way through. I am now panicking a little. I think from reading this thread that I should bring the Dreamfeed forward to 10pm and have thought I should cluster feed, but don't know how especially now she is rejecting day feeds. Before dreamfeeding, she was taking 150mls at 3am, 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm. What should I give her for the cluster feeds and do the other feeds stay the same (same times and amounts)?
I am almost ready to drop the dreamfeed - its been very disruptive. Its hard to understand how babies work. You'd think that it would make a positive difference and that babies would be more content and sleep through.
