Last night I tried to do my first DF but my son wouldn't latch on at all when I placed the breast in front of him.  I know I read specifically not to wake them.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hi Mibster

I too had the same problem at first with my DS but he now takes it without a problem. maybe I am a bit of a clumsy one, but I have never really been able to get him out of his cot without at the very least rousing him from sleep. He does go straight back to sleep while feeding and then I put him back down alseep afterwards.

Hopefully your LO will do this? When my DS was younger (he is now 4 mths) I had to rouse him to keep him feeding eg tickling hands, rubbing back of head/neck

Don't worry too much about being too 'textbook' ( I was a terrible stickler for the rules until I realised these techniques sometimes have to be adapted to the individual) - the main thing with a dreamfeed is to et the food into your LO so you can get some sleep ;-)

Good luck with it
