eczema in summer only ?
« on: September 16, 2006, 07:41:26 am »
Owen has been on a dairy free diet for the summer because of his eczema, it has worked well and we are pleased.

Now I am not sure what to do next? He only gets eczema in the summer ( so did not expect dairy free to work but it has) so do I keep it going? or do I stop and start in again next summer?

He loves cheese and is missing his " normal " milk so I know he would love to have them back

What do you wonderful people think is the best step ?

Thanks Donna x

Donna-I have no advice  . . . my 3 yr old has eczema spring, fall, and winter but not during summer so I had convinced myself that his had to be environmental . . . now I'm rethinking this as my 5 yr old has a milk allergy . . . oh dear . . . I had to take away her beloved chocolate milk, I don't know if I could do it to him too.  Hmm . . . definitely food for thought.  Would love to know what you decide to do.  Has the dr made any suggestions?

Thanks Kelly

Well I am starting to let him have milk at playgroup but not at home and I am going to see how it goes. He has not been drinking much of it, think he is used to soya now. I will give this ago for a few weeks and then, start him on cheese, I know that will go down well.
The dr did not seem to want to get involved.

It is hard when you have to stop something they love  :'(

Thanks agaian and good luck

Tyler only has eczema during late spring/early summer, and we figured out that it's seasonal allergies. Maybe that's what's going on?
