Please help intl. travel and EASY???
« on: September 19, 2006, 19:28:10 pm »
Hi taking a trip very soon (Thursday!) to the States and wondering how to keep on EASY
Dealing with a -9 hour time difference

Basically, we leave Frankfurt at 12:20 p.m. (Frankfurt time) and arrive in Seattle at 7:40 p.m. (Seattle time)

That means we leave 12:20 p.m. our time and arrive in Seattle 10:40 a.m. our time
or that means we leave 3 a.m. SEattle time and arrive in Seattle at 7:40pm Seattle time

Does that make any sense?

Actually we'll leave our house at probably 5 a.m. Thursday  (8p.m. Sea time-Wednesday)
and have 3 flights that get us to Seattle by 7:40 p.m the next day

Any suggestions ANYONE?  Sorry this is so confusing, for me too!

Read in FAQs that we should wake at 3 or 4 a.m. so LO konks out on flight?

appreciate any help
Kristi

thanks beca, actually already spoken with Efke, but about the flight.
So after reading her thread it seems that it might take my LO 1 week to adjust and we're just staying 3 weeks, so he'll sleep fine for 2 weeks and we'll have to do it all over again :(
no, I think it'll be ok.  Actually, for me it's much easier going to the States than coming back, so maybe it won't be as hard when we go there, but hard when we return to Europe.
And when we go there I'll have the help of my fam, but when we return, It'll be just me and DH :)
oh well
excited for the trip anyway

My question had more to do with the flight, but one mom on my birthgroup thread has helped me a bit with a routine/schedule for the travel day.
Do you think my LO can basically do an EASY routine continuously without having a long overnight sleep til the end (the routine she made for me-what an angel- has 8 EASY cycles with a night sleep at the end.

Thanks
Kristi

I think she can handle it.  Just remember to not be a slave to the clock.  Watch her cues and stick to the same pattern.  I spent a whole day of travel with Santiago 2 months ago and his A times were longer because he couldn't burn off as much energy as he could when free to run around. KWIM?  We left the house at 4am and got to Boston at around 7 and he just crashed!  He actually napped better for a few days because of the disruption of the routine and the adjustment to a new house and all my family wanting to get as much time with him.  ;)

And at 4 months I think she'll be easier to readjust than a 13 month old!!!

I bet you guys will do fine!

Have fun!!
