What do you think?
« on: September 27, 2006, 12:32:08 pm »
After last weeks fiasco of baby rice too soon (gp's advice) luke has been more consistent than ever waking 4.30/5am for feed then straight to sleep till morning.  Last night though woke at 1am (df 11) took a bit of settling with dummy and pat shh around 10 mins then woke again at 2 dummy sent him straight back off again at 3 dummy worked again and then at 4 when i fed him only gave him 3oz any more and he feeds badly at 7 but would have taken more then straight back too sleep till morning.

Do you think the earlier wakings could have been him being more hungry than usual?  It seems funny his longest stretch came after the night feed?  He is now 3 months.

Could he be going through a growth spurt - some babies do at 3 months?

Well he is 14 weeks so is that too late for growth spurt? Though i didn't notice one at 12 weeks.

Sometimes a LO will be early or late for a spurt, by as much as a month.

Thinking this could be it as last night woke at 2.30 def hungry and today he is more hungry at each feed and sometimes needing to be fed earlier than usual.  How long should i expect a growth spurt to last?

Every LO is different, but I think average is about 4 or 5 days.

We really struggle with getting the oz's in during the day.  used to feed really well but last 3 weeks not good at all we now have to feed him every 4 hrs other wise he will only take 2oz instead of 6 and even then at some feeds only taking 3/4 oz.  Tends to feed well at df.  Any ideas how i can get him to take more to help him through the growth spurt as in book it warns against just feeding at night and says we have to give more during the day.

Have you tried cluster feeding in the evening?
