Dream Feed Questions
« on: September 29, 2006, 02:01:39 am »
My almost 6 month old daughter is waking around the time I usually go in for her dream feed.  Is it time to cut it out or should I start going in a little earlier / later?

My daughter is having some "feeding issues" lately (sometimes getting cranky while feeding - I think when the flow slows down) and so sometimes she's waking up, fussy during the feed and then having difficulty settling back down.

I'm not necessarily looking to cut out the DF just yet .. its the feed I enjoy the most actually.  For future reference though: I know in her book Tracey says to cut out the DF gradually over 10 days.  Do you have to do it like that?  Has anyone done it differently (ie: cold turkey) and had success?

Hi! I'm replying because I have the same situation! DD is waking up -wide awake like wanting to party all night- for her dream feed!

btw- I've skipped it a few nights, and it all depends on the night- mostly, however, she'll just wake a little earlier- say 5 or 6.  I think they say that this gradually goes later and later.  I haven't attempted however!

hope you get some more helpful replies!  :-\ :)

You can gently move the DF up by 10 minutes at a day adn then it merges until last feeding eventually. I dropped DF with my first around 6-7 mos based on her "nursing attitude"- she didn't seem to need it anymore.
