My little man is almost exclusively breastfed. He might get a formula bottle once or twice a month in emergency situations. Otherwise I pump for times when I know breastfeeding is going to be inconvenient or impossible (such as the dentist chair...that was a tricky one). My problem is I am never sure how much to give him in a bottle since I do it so rarely. I pump milk for his dream feed. He is 3.5 months old and we give him 6 oz (this requires two pumpings each day for each night). I get the impression that he could probably drink more but I am wondering if giving him too much is just as bad as not giving enough. Since he is asleep I don't know if he knows when to stop. If you give too much at a dream feed will it affect his sleep or cause any other problems? On the rare occasions we give him a day bottle he usually takes 4-5 oz. It is only in his sleep that he seems like he could go on forever.
