Extending naps for 16mos-old??
« on: September 30, 2006, 11:52:42 am »
Hi,
(I hope it's ok to post here and not the nap forum?)

My son stopped taking 2hr naps a couple weeks ago when he was sick.

He's sleeping well at night as of a week ago, thanks to wi/wo. We've been putting him to bed a little earlier to compensate for lost day sleep, and that's worked well, with 12hrs of sleep on average at night.

Schedule this week (since sleeping well at night) looks something like this:
7:00-7:30 Awake. (late for him)
12:30 Nap. Maybe an hour.
7:00-7:30 Bedtime.

He falls asleep on his own.

Any ideas to extend naps for a child this age, besides PD?? (he doesn't stand yet, so that's not really helpful.)
Does wi/wo work?

On one hand, he's doing ok with this routine now that he's sleep so well at night. But I'd like to get some routine down in case this set up stops working. Plus, I don't want to risk moving our day incrementally earlier with daylight savings coming to the States in a few week!  ::)

Thanks for any help!!
Ann

Aha -- I just found the post for Short Naps for 18month old -- I'll use the advice there to start and post there with further questions!  ;)

Well done on finding a starting point! just wanted to let you know it's OK for you to post here since your lo is a toddler already.

Good luck and keep us posted if you need anything else!
