Toddler will not eat any meat
« on: October 03, 2006, 20:21:18 pm »
Hey Everyone,

Not posted for absolutely ages. I used to be addicted to this site!

Anyway just wondering if anyone elses little person wont eat meat?

Jude used to eat anything but now he just chews and spits out ::)

I use Annabel karmels recipes, spend all day cooking and he just plays with it all, uggggggggggghhhhh i could cry.

Anyone have any suggestions, should i be concerned that he doesnt eat any meat? Will eggs and cheese make up for lack of meat?

Jude is 16 months btw.

Many Thanks xxx :)

Holly is like this, I can get her to eat ham cos its really thin and sausages cos they have a different texture. She's getting better now, but its a texture issue with her, she's never eaten meat other than in purees! We eat a lot of fish and a lot of eggs.

Oh and she'll eat chicken nuggets from a happy meal, don't ask me why! But we have them occasionally to try to differ her textures!

Tyler's never been a big meat eater either, possibly because we don't eat a lot of it around here. I wouldn't worry too much about it from a nutritional standpoint. Tyler's basically been a vegetarian his entire life, he's eaten so little meat, and he's healthy. Just make sure you're making up for the nutrients in other ways. Iron is a big one that primarily comes from meat, so make sure you're still offering foods rich in iron like fortified cereals, beans, eggs, etc. Protein is pretty easy to make up for with milk, yogurt, and other dairy. From what I've heard, they usually grow out of it, but I wouldn't know...mine still hasn't! ::)

my lo just started eating meat - but only from chicken nuggets or hidden in pasta sauce.  so i worry about this too - i try to get the iron in where we can and am now working on introducting beans more often (still won't eat them).  She too has texture issues.
