4 month old - to drop 3 am feed or not??
« on: October 05, 2006, 00:30:37 am »
Hi guys,
i had a question,
my ds (4 month old)goes to bed at about 7:30, then wakes up b/w 10:30-11:30 to eat, then again at 2:30-3:00 to eat, then at b/w 5:00 - 06:00. At 3 am his feed is not long (i breastfeed). So do you think at this age he can go without this feeding, or should i still continue with it. If not how did you wean your LO and how long did it take??
Thank you in advance

Inna

hi Inna,

when you say not long, do you mean he is not taking a full feeding?  if that's the case, i would drop it.  if you use a paci, i would try doing that instead.  use pat/shh to help him go back to sleep.

as far as the bf goes, if he isn't eating much then, it shouldn't hurt you when you stop....

HTH a little. :)

I would definitely try to drop the 3AM feeding.  Just make sure he has a full feeding at 7:30 and 10:30.  The 3Am waking up might be just for comfort, so try to use other ways (shush-pat, PU/PD) and see if that works.

good luck!
