sleep issues

Hello! My Name is Maria Teresa and I am new at this website. I apologize if my English isn't correct since my native language is Spanish. I have read Tracy's book and I have been implementing EASY with my 7 week old daughter since she is 2 weeks old. I am really trying and some times is really hard to follow  routine. the reason I am writting is because I am going to have to go back to work in about 4 weeks and I am very concern that after I have worked so hard to teach her a routine, the whole environment is going to change. My mother in law is going to help me taking care of B and I am worried because she is already having a hard time falling asleep in any other place but her crib. Does any body have any ideas of how I can work this out?? Thank you

although your daughter is still very young, I found with my dd that because I had a solid routine right from the start, she adapted to new environments very well, as I stuck to her routine wherever we went. So if she has been with my mother in law or my mum for the day/ night, they have followed her routine to the letter and she is comfortable and relaxed because she knows what's going on, even though she is somewhere different than home. I hope this makes sense!
how is your routine going at the moment?

hi Kathrynk, thank you for answering so quickly. I am sorry that I didn't answer before but I am new on the site and i didn't know how to look at my messages. I am glad that you mentioned that after a roitione is established she will be able to follow it everywhere. Establishing a routine has been a challenge because she hjas had great difficulty falling asleep. but her routine at this time looks like this;
Last time she was able to sleep from 9:30 pm and I DF at 11:00 pm until 6:15 am then,

E 6:15 am
A 7:00 am
S 7:30am

E8:45 am
A9: 20 am
S 9:47 am

E12:15 am
A1:00 pm
S 1:30 pm

E 3:15 pm
A 3:45 pm
S 4:30 pm

Then she has a bath at 7:30 pm

E 8:00 pm
A 8:45 pm
S 9:15 pm

This routine sometimes changes because she wabts to eat every 2.5 hours instead of 3. and beacues she is so little I feed her if she cries after 2.5 hours. So it has been difficukt to stick with an scheduale. She also has reflux and that  also makes difficult for her to sleep. So there are days that she cries a lot and we don't know if she is having pain or she is been cranky.

Thank you fore your help.
Laura

I think what helps Sophie adapt to different surroundings are often the little things, for example after her first morning bottle, I have always then washed & dressed her, she plays in her cot while I get her clothes and the water ready, she has 3 CD's of nursery rhymes & classical music and we always sing along to one of those while getting washed. This little routine is always the same wherever we go and if she stays overnight at a grandparent's they do the same. I think little things like this in with your eating & sleeping routine will help her adjust to someone or somewhere new.

Thank you K for your help. I also try to follow the same routine every day but sometimes she cries a lot which makes it difficult to follow the same steps . I just wrote another post about it because she is very inconsistent. There has been times that she has been able to fall asleep on her own without much crying and there are others where she cries for hours (1.2 to 2 h). She has reflux and that makes me confused. A lot of times she starts crying right after BF and doesn't stop no matter what I do. I don't want to put her in her crib if she is having pain, but at the same time I don't want her to learn to sleep on my arms. How is your LO sleeping?

hi there
sorry for not replying before
I have been reading your other post about getting your dd to sleep and it looks like you're getting some great advice and sounds like you're doing really well! I am very lucky, my lo has always been a great sleeper and that is one thing we have never had a problem with (I know I am VERY lucky!)
Just hang on in there and it will all come good

Thank you. I also hope things get better, because I don't feel at times that I am doing a good job.
