9 week old- how to sleep through longer at night?
« on: October 06, 2006, 06:47:36 am »
I have managed to stop my lo from waking 4 times a night by shush/patting him unless he has gone 2.5- 3 hours from the last feed. Now he generally wakes at 1-2am & 3-4am. Please can anyone help with tips to get him to go longer?

I feed him at 7pm- then to sleep, then df at 10.30pm.

I breast feed, but a few people have suggested trying a formula feed for the df as it may help him sleep longer- has anyone else tried this with success?

Thanks
Jx

I wouldn't try the formula if your LO doesn't usually have it as it will only make things worse by irritating your LO's tummy.
2 wakings at this age is perfictly normal. Your LO is not ready to go longer yet. Just be consistent and it will happen. Your LO is still very little and young. It sounds to me like he is right on track.

Great, thanks Kimberly. I know sometimes I can expect too much of him & even try pushing him. I have to take a step back & realise he is still only tiny!
Cheers

I have a feeling I'll be responding lots to your posts as my lo is the same age!
This is just my experience, so take it with a grain of salt.
I actually stopped the df because I was having to really wake him to get him to eat.
When I did that, he slept for 12 hours - 7:30-7:30.
:D
Now, he does eat every 2 hours during the day - consistently. He rarely goes longer.
So maybe he's getting enough during the day to keep him asleep at night.
And he's a very big boy - 13.5 lbs. and 26 inches long at 2 months!
I agree wtih Kimberly though that waking twice is totally normal - my child is just abnormal!!!  ;D
