18mo Nap Refusal
« on: October 11, 2006, 04:47:10 am »
Hi there

Hoping someone can please help......

My 18mo is having terrrible trouble falling asleep for her nap, I can't figure out what is wrong and have tried everything I can think of.  Has been going on for weeks so I don't think it's teething or anything like that, in fact she never shows signs of teething even though she has all but four molars! Our day looks like this.

8.00 wake, breakfast etc
10.30 snack, milk etc
12pm lunch, milk etc
1pm attempt nap
2pm, go in and change pooey nappy
3pm, falls asleep
5 to 5.30 pm, wakes, milk
6.30 dinner
7.30 bath
8 to 8.30 bed.

I have tried getting her up earlier to have more A time between morning and nap, tried for about a week, resulted in no nap at all  :o

Tried making tap time later, like 2pm, resulted in no nap at all

Tried making nap earlier - 12 to 12.30pm, this worked for three days then back to normal.  Everything else works fine, routine is ok, sleeps through 12 hours at night and is never grumpy as a result of this, just really tired.  She doesn't cry when in her cot, just talks and sings and plays.

Any ideas would be so appreciated.  Very hard to see tired signs with this one, she just keeps going and going!
