In big need of food ideas!!!
« on: October 13, 2006, 12:50:30 pm »
DD just turned 1 and for about the past month she has decided she does not want the pureed baby foods.  It has been hit or miss with them, mostly miss.  I have tried to feed her the "graduate" foods.....the soups, prepacked pick up foods, garden mashers and I do not seem to be finding anything she likes.

I really am in need of ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  She will still eat yogert so she usually has that once a day either at breakfast or lunch.

I guess the next transition is to start feeding her what we eat however that isn't going to work for us right now.  Currently I am on Jenny Craig and w. that program for awhile you are eating prepacked foods.  DH works a lot so he eats on the go.

Any ideas you have for all 3 meals would be so helpful.  I am going grocery shopping today and am ready to stock up!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks so so much

Oh she will eat snacks such as cherrios, crackers, gerber puffs.  She seems to just like the "snack" type foods.

Thanks again!!

Hi Tracy
This is what we are giving our lo who is 1 yr as well.
B: cereal, plain yogurt, banana pieces
L: steamed broccoli (no stems) steamed peas, minced meat and add pureed squash or sweet potato.
D: same as lunch or
pasta spirals with tomato sauce with peas and broccoli and minced meat
snacks: mozzarella cheese pieces, whole wheat pita with raisins ( not the thin kind), fruits.

I buy frozen veggies and pop it in the microwave.  I make the minced meat with onion and lentils and freeze them in icecube trays.  I still add puree stuff with meat or veggie chunks since I see them all coming out on the other end. ;)

Gosh,  my daughter is 10 months old and some of the foods we do is as follows:

Breakfasts-  yogurt, buttered toast, graham crackers with applesauce on them,  bagels, cherrios (especially the new fruity cherrios),  tortilla's with cream cheese,   banana pieces,

Lunches -  macaroni and cheese (kraft), she likes the gerber graduates in the little tubs, like the speghetti or animal pasta or the pasta pickups-  any pasta with almost any kind of sauce (alfredo sauce even),   canned veggies (low sodium) - carrots, peas, especially green beans,  canned fruit( low sugar or no sugar)- papaya, mango, peaches, pears, fruit cocktail.
grilled cheese sandwiches,  tortilla's with cheese (quesadilla's) - she will even eat a soft taco!  pieces of avacado.

Dinner's -  Some of the same stuff as lunch -  I will mix in finely ground hamburger with her pasta which she seems to like,  she will eat pizza cut into small pieces -  It is pretty much endless -  I find most things pretty easy to cook for just her as like you I'm dieting and dont want to give her those foods.    I will whip up some mac and cheese which only takes about 10 minutes and then save what she doesnt eat for a day later or so.   and the canned veggies and fruits are great - no cooking-

I hope I could help!     Lisa

I am going to move this to the Toddler Feeding Forum as you will get some more great ideas from Mum's with LO's in similar age and situation.
We do cereal and toast for breakfast, sandwich and yoghurt for lunch and my DD eats what we have for dinner. But some ideas are: Spagetti Bol,Mac and Cheese,Scrambled egg,my DD loves cassaroles.

Veggie Booty is this funky puffed corn/rice snack.  It's got spinach/kale powder on it.  Found with the organic snacks.  Think Cheeto's with green instead.  A major hit with the toddler set.  Also, join us in the Picky Toddler threads in this forum.  We toss out TONS of ideas for little people food.  And you don't need a picky one to learn stuff.    ;)
