Burping

I have very rarely seen anything written about gas and sleeping.  I am puzzled by my daughter, who seems to have a second night wake-up with gas if we can't get a burp after the first wake-up.  Am I imagining things?  We breastfeed, but she sleeps in her crib - I'm wondering how co-sleeping moms handle this as babies have to fall asleep without burping, right?  Please complete the poll or provide insight - thanks!!

Not at all!  This happens with my daughter too sometimes.  Very normal.

I'm wondering how co-sleeping moms handle this as babies have to fall asleep without burping, right? 

I read about one co-sleeping mom who burped her baby sitting up on her chest while she stayed lying down before she rolled over so the baby could have the second boob.

I coslept with my baby. Never really had to burp during the night. Maybe he was more relaxed, didn't pull away during feeding to look around etc. I usually nursed lying down. Maybe the position helped.

I was always worried because Marc wouldn't always burp after a feed, but my midwife said that b/f babies don't tend to burp as much as ff babies. They pump more 

Don't know whether this is true or whether it helps any......

With DD I'd wind her during the day (if I remember correctly - seems such a long time ago now) but I know that I didn't during the night feeds.  She'd fall back asleep and there was no way I'd be waking her to burp her, TBH, I quite often would fall asleep myself before she was done sleeping - so at night no, but day I think I did, but mostly because it was something your'e taugth to do by older generations rather than from a need.

We had to burp Harvey and Theo during the day, but at night when they fed whilst sleeping they didn't need burping because they were sleeping and so relaxed that they didn't need burping. But if they did wake and fed fast then they would need winding.

I did gently rub their backs before placing them back in their cots to see if anything would come up, but rarely anything did.
