question regarding email being shown as public info

My email address is currently being shown as public information.  Before the site went down, it was listed as hidden.  I went back into my profile and the box is checkmarked that says to hide the email address.  However, it is still showing.  I even unchecked the box, saved the profile, then went back, checked the box again, and saved my profile again.  But nothing has changed - my email address is still showing up. 

I don't want this information public, especially as I get enough spam email as it is.  How can I fix this?

Tammy, when I click on your username and view your profile, it shows your email as "hidden."  I think you can see it, but others can't.

Heather - I thought maybe that was it, but when I look at a post I've made, it has a envelope shown with a link to my email address... does that show up to you?

Over where you would click to PM a person?

Tammy - It does only show for you, in the profile area there's no envelope that other users can see, only you

Ok good!    Feel silly now - but how would I know I can only see myself!    I can see a bunch of other member's email addresses, so I thought maybe it was a glitch.  Thanks!
