Waking at midnight and 5am - 5mth old HELP
« on: November 03, 2006, 06:52:35 am »
HI
Bella and I have been on BW routine since she was 7wks old. She's always woken 2 to 3 times a night, however I am sure that at this age it is definitley habitual as i can set a clock to it, basically Im exhausted hubby is tired we need to get some sleep...... so HELP
info....
SHe is 5mths 1week old weighing 15lbs (6.85kgs) so not a Big baby but average..
problem I am sure is that she only takes maximum 45minute naps usually 4 a day, last few days she's had 2 45minute naps and a big 1.5hr nap in the early afternoon.

I have also transitioned her the last week onto a 4hr EASY, however she really instigated it as she just wasnt hungry for her bottle at the 3hr mark!

I have also strated solids with her, (apple, pears, avocado peaches carrot and sweet potato) she has taken to these well, usually i will offer her the solids about and hour after she has eaten only twice a day and she only has 2 tbs at most.

routine goes something like this going by today......
Last night was like this-

Bed at 7pm feed
wake to sleep at 11pm
12.30am woke shhs put paci back in,
2am woke Feed 5oz
6am woke shhh put paci back in and in to my bed(oops)
7.45 woke up

If you can set the clock by it try wake to sleep.  It works wonders on habitual waking.  Do it for the first waking and you will probably find because lo doesn't wake at usual time it may stop the second waking at the same time.  Lucky you habitual waking.  My lo almost 5 months and now no longer habit wakings so w2s won't work for us.  Shame.  Let us know how you get on.

I agree try w2s and see if that helps. Remember though that at this age its not unreasonable to expect 1 feeding at night. Try w2s, then use Pat/Shush or PU/PD to settle first, if that doesn't work don't be afread to have a feed at night.
