Mastitis?
« on: November 03, 2006, 13:29:51 pm »
I suspect that I have mastitis. I have had flu like symptoms for the past 4 days and didn't think anything of it until I woke up this morning with sharp pains in my breast. It feels very hard and I had a blocked duct there about a month ago. Who do you recommend seeing for this? I have an appointment with my general physician today since I thought I was going to get the flu shot today - I guess not :) Should I keep the appointment with my gp or try to get an appointment with my OBGYN???

I would think your GP would be able to help you out.  You can see if you can get and appt with your ob/gyn and if you can't get one today, keep your GP appt.  It is very important that you be seen today so you can start the healing.  :-*

GP is absolutely fine. It'll probably be a combination of antibiotics and  you doing self-help stuff e.g. massage.
Have a look at this:

Good Luck and be well soon.

P.S if you do get antibiotics protect yourself against thrush by building up your 'good' bacteria with probiotics - natural yoghurts, lacto acidophilus supplements.
