How does this look?
« on: November 03, 2006, 19:05:52 pm »
My baby is on the 3 hour EASY, he has just turned 12 weeks old and although we are doing fine during the day we cant seem to get the evening routine down at all.

These times are not exact and can sometimes be earlier or later, this is just a rough idea.

E - 7am
A - 7.15am
S - 8am

E - 10am
A - 10.15am
S - 11am

E - 1pm
A - 1.15pm
S - 2pm

E - 4pm
A - 4.15pm
S - rarely happens

By 5 or 6 he is grumpy, has a feed, and we dont dare try to bathe him or anything as it just turns into a battle with him screaming his head off so we quickly put jammies on, and put him to bed after a feed.  He generally wakes up about 8pm, if not I tend to wake him for his feed and change him again.  Then Dream feed him about 10-30 - 11pm. HE is still up in the night for another feed usually around 2 or 3. Sometimes he will even wake up about 12am.  We just cant seem to get the evening/night into a routine.  ::)

Any suggestions??

I think try for the catnap out int the stroller/swing---it really only needs to be 30-45min.
if the other naps are 2hrs long then he may not want that last catnap but then he is overtired by bedtime.
aim for catnap at about 5pm, bath, feed bed at 7pm--asleep by 7:30

Thanks for that.  I should have added that his naps arent always 2 hours, sometimes an hour sometimes only 45 minutes.  Sometimes he will do a 2 hour nap if he is tired. If he doesnt sleep the full nap time we have a little "A" time but he usually ends up tired after being awake for an hour and so the times then change throughout the day.  Sorry, didnt think. I would say on average he naps for about 4 hours a day.

hiya! I def aggre with catnap in stroller. MY DS used to get very tired by the eve and the eve routine was too much for him, the bath was hell! Started taking him for a quick stroll before his bath and he would doze of for maybe 10mins then I would wake him up when we got back, bath him, feed and into bed. He def needed to 'rest' before sleeping.

I agree with the PP - a lo will tend to wake up more in the night when they are over tired and it can turn into a vicious circle.  Defintiel agree, the stoller is a fantastic idea - the fresh air does them the world of good.

Also to try and cut down on the feeds during the night, have you thought about trying to do a cluster feed at all?  You could do the first cluster feed  after he has woken from his cat nap, then you can do the bath as your A time, and then do a second cluster feed again after the bath then your wind down routine and then bed.  This will tank your lo up and will probably enable him to stay asleep for the dreamfeed.

At 12 weeks it is still quite common for them to wake for a feed in the middle of the night.

Thank you.  We did take him for a walk yesterday and it worked in getting him to chill out a little.  I will try that as a regular thing.  When it doesnt rain of course!!  :)
