won't stay awake for activity time
« on: November 06, 2006, 00:21:45 am »
:-\ !  Hopefully someone out there can help me on this...During the day, I am having a tough time keeping my LO awake after his bottles.  He wants to go right to sleep.  I feel like I make him so mad.  Once i succeed in "waking" him back up, he does stay awake for 30 - 45 minutes and then goes down for a nap, but is this healthy for me to do?  I don't want an angry baby.  Any suggestions?
Thanks! Heather

At 7 weeks, you don't need a whole lot of activity time.  After the bottle, change his diaper, maybe sing a song, and put him back to sleep.  Is he napping well?

His A time will increase soon!

He was napping really well up until a few days ago...it seems he has really bad gas (am calling the dr. tomorrow).  He naps for 1 1/2 - 2 hours at a time.  We struggle a little sometimes with him falling asleep with his passy, though.  As soon as it falls out, he is up.  We try to put him down with out it, but sometimes, he just needs it.

See what the dr says about the gas.  The naps sound good, have you tried pat/shh?  to help him through the loss of the paci, or even the removal of the paci?

We tried...but didn't make a very good effort with it.  I didn't know if it was something I should be doing with him at such a young age?

Take a look at the FAQ section for naps:
