Staring from scratch!
« on: November 07, 2006, 09:38:16 am »
Hi Everyone,
I am the stoked, but worn out mother of a gorgeous spirited daughter - Ashlyn. I have read the book and tried to implement it all, but fairly confused. We are in a basic easy routine as follows;
6:15 wake up
6:30 bottle
7:00 breakfast (1 weetbix)
9:00/9:30 sleep or nap (ranges from 30 - 80 mins
10:30/11:00wake up
12:00 bottle
12:30 lunch
2:30/3:00 sleep or nap (ranges from 30-80mins)
5:45 dinner
6:15 bath
7:00 bottle
7:30 bed

Last few nights no wake ups Yay! but usually one or two wake ups needing us to go in a give her dummy (terrible I know). Loves being swaddled lightly, getting much better at putting herself to sleep. If wakes up earlier than 6 then caos for rest of day, up to 3 20-30 min naps instead of good long sleeps. Very hard to stick to routine as she can be so inconsistent!
How do I improve or really establish successful EASY routine from here? Please help...getting desperate.
Really looking forward to everyones advice. Gotta love our little darlings!!!
Still smiling
Natxx

Hi Nats,

Welcome to the boards.

From what I can see you routine looks good.  How old is your lo?  That way we will know where we can improve on things.

Look forward to hearing from you.

That is fantastic news about having a good night last night.

HAve you thought about clusterfeeding in the evening to help your lo tank up?

For her dinner she has a veg/meat/grain mix approx 4oz followed by a mini yoghurt (petit miam), that is at 5:30/5:45 then her bottle just before bed at approx 7. By cluster feeding what changes to that would you recommend?

I was going to suggest offering a small bottle before her meal, but from your previous post, I see that you already do offer it to her.

You may find that her waking in the night (if it is at the same time) that it is just out of habit, or because of teething etc.

From the routine you posted, you have a very good routine and that your lo is doing well.

How often are these night wakings?

Go figure I haven't had any night wakings since first posting a message! Isn't it always the way. When she was waking there wasn't any regular timing, each night was different. I'm learning to not jump straight in there now either! All figuring itself out I guess. Thanks for your support.

Shhhhhhh, you don't want her to hear you  ;D

That is fantastic news - The night wakings could be down to anything from teething, cold, just feeling cranky, a bit over tired.

My DS nearly 16 months still has times when he won't sleep through the night and will wake up crying and need to be re-settled - it usually is when he is teething or has a cold etc.

Keep us posted on how you get on.
