Is this used in the UK? Signalong is usually used during singing but Im looking for something to use at work with children with speech and language delay.  The speech therapist says signalong is what we should use?! Ill have a look at the site, thanks!!

Ahhh Helen, your so kind, thank you so much!!  We (at work) are waiting to be put on a course to learn level 1 but its such a long wait, meanwhile Im really stuck with a little boy I really want to help! Thanks so much, will pm you my address now xxxxx

Just a thought Clare.. while you are waiting.. signalong signs are very like the makaton signs that Justin uses on something special.. so you could start to get yourselves aquainted with those.

Funnily enough I was looking at these before I posted and wasnt sure if they were the same or not! I reallly wouldnt wanna start teaching him signs that are different to what the SALT is teaching him! But I have heard makaton is similar!! Ill have a look now, thanks xx

Its very similar... and although there are differences they are not a world apart from what the SALT is doing - so have a go! If there are any particular signs you want to use let me know which and I will see if I can remember them enough to tell you if they are the same as the makaton on the site..

Thinking about it the SALT should be giving you some examples to teach him.. ask her to come back and show you some to be going along with.. or at least a copy of the guide for some of the signs she uses...

I am more than happy to send the book and will do it.. but lets get the therapist earning their money too lol lol xxx
