extending A time, how much is too much?
« on: November 10, 2006, 14:12:18 pm »
i'm trying to put my lo into a 3.5 h routine following wonderful advice from the board.

I'm extending his A time but am unsure as to how much is too much...

If he has a short nap do you extend A time as much as possible to match the next nap time?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dani,

With you saying that he has a short nap, it definitely sounds like it is time to transition.

When transitioning you need to watch your lo's cues closely.  You could try extending by 10 minutes at a time for the first few days and then a little longer.

You don't want your lo to get over tired, so need to watch his cues very closley.  At the first sighn of tiredness you need to start your wind down routine.

Thanks Paula,

I'm watching my lo as you said and it seems that he gets tired anything between 1:40-2hrs. So,I think we are going towards a 3.5-4h easy. Thanks
Dani
