Little rash under the eyes?
« on: November 12, 2006, 00:10:51 am »
Hi there.  My lo has had these tiny little red bumps under his eyes for the last few weeks.  They are barely visible unless you look very closely.  He doesn't seemed bothered by them, but I was wondering if anyone has ever had this with their lo?

I have been keeping him off dairy and wheat for the last 4 days to see if that makes a difference.  They are still there.  Any suggestions? Oh, he is breastfed as well.

Thanks!  Jodi

Hi Jodi,

I am not especially knowledgeable with food allergies, so I'll leave that to someone else. However, I had these little red bumps under my eyes (in the dark circle bit) throughout my whole pregnancy from the straining of the morning sickness (I think they were broken blood vessels). Has he been vomiting/straining in any way recently?
Caroline :)

No, he has not been vomiting.  He has been a spit up baby since birth, but I don't think it causes any strain.  Do you think it is hormonal at all?  Since you had it in your pregnancy?  I don't know... just trying to guess.  I guess I would have them if it was hormonal (since I bf)...

Thanks for helping in the process of elimination!

Hi there!

My daughter got that as well and it was diagnosed as baby excema.  Are the bumps red at all? Do they come and go?   Does it seem to itch him?

Well, sometimes they're red, sometimes they are skin colored.  He does scratch his face alot, but we thought it had something to do with being tired as usually he doesn't scratch his face right after a nap... what did they tell you to do with it?  Thanks for letting me know!

Oh, and yes, sometimes there are quite a few, sometimes just some in the corner of his eye (outer corner)...

Well...I'm not sure if it really sounds like excema or not.  Here is a link to a thread dedicated to excema questions/concerns.

My daughter was diagnosed at around 3 months old. I breastfeed her until she was 1 yr old.  I never did figure out if it was something that I was eating or not. She still gets breakouts sometimes but I have it under control by keeping her entire body really moisturized and I use Primrose oil in her bath.  She also gets other patches of it in her elbow creases and on her legs sometimes. I am not sure (by what you have said so far) if it sounds like you son has excema or not. It would be worth asking his doctor to make sure.

Thank you so much!  I read through the thread.  I am not sure if it is excema based on what everyone's los are going through.  I will speak with a dr. to see what the deal is... I am pretty sure that it is an allergic reaction to something though...

BTW--congrats on being pg and your Jessica is a doll!  Love the bow!

Jodi,

Zara gets something like this too - and she has allergies, I now have her on soy.  We did not get a medical diagnoses on the allergies, but the Dr agreed that it probably is allergies since she has improved considerably on the soy (but who would know seeing as she is sick again LOL).

I never considered allergies....let me know what you find out.

I will.  I am wondering if it has to do with too much Vitamin C... He was fighting a cold a few weeks ago and I doubled my dosage of Vitamin C and have been since.  I didn't take any this morning and won't for the next few days.  I will let you know if anything works!

Jodi I wouldn't think it would be too much Vit C, because the human body cannot store Vit C, so if there is too much it just comes out IYKWIM.  I have been very ill a few years ago and actually put that to the test, and it is true.

Okay, well one less thing illiminated!  The only other items that he eats consistantly are squash and apples.  Maybe it's the apples or just a plain weird baby rash. I have no clue.  Let me know if you hear about anything on your end!

Rina,  well, it is the apples!  I steamed and froze so many the poor kid ate them almost twice a day.  I illimnated them for four days and his eye rash cleared up.  I don't think he is allergic, but I may have overloaded his system with them???   Maybe this will help you, let me know!

that is very interesting because Zara eats apple nearly every day too!

Good investigating Jodi - you are a real BW detective!
