help with night wakings - not sure if habit or what!!
« on: November 14, 2006, 07:53:29 am »
hi
my daughter is 12 weeks old and used to only wake up once at around 4 am for a feed (120mls) and then sleep through till 7. sometimes we even managed to get her to wait until around 5ish.
recently though she has been waking at about 2-2.30 and whining. we get her to go back to sleep again but then at about 3-3.30 she actually starts crying and won't take the dummy or any comforting. i feed her and she goes back to sleep but then is crying again by about 6.
she naps well during the day - 1.5-2 hours per nap (she's on 3 hour easy) except for her last nap at 4 which she takes ages to get into and seems overtired and then when she finally gets to sleep she's out cold and we have to wake her at 6.30 for bath and final feed.
i thought maybe it was a growth spurt but she doesn't seem to be any hungrier during the day.
would really appreciate some advice as to what to do. should i try wake to sleep? i hate the sound of it! or maybe shorter naps. or maybe it is a growth spurt. please help!!
thanks

When she feeds at 3-3:30 does she take a whole feed?

LOs get a huge growth spurt at 12 weeks, so that's likely what's happening.

Sometimes just a couple days, other times more like a week. If it goes on much longer then maybe it's time to consider other things.

ok thank you. she slept through till 4.30 last night and then till 7 so maybe it was a growth spurt. am going to try her on 3.5 hour easy as of today to see if that helps.
