2nd Anniversary of Tracy's Passing
« on: November 24, 2006, 22:59:09 pm »
Tracy Hogg, RNMH “The Baby Whisperer”

Born and raised in the north of England, Tracy worked in several reknowned hospitals including St. Catherine's Hospital for the Mentally Handicapped, where she first discovered her gift for understanding children's cries, gestures, body language, and other nonverbal cues–a talent she would later apply to babies. When she emigrated to the United States in 1992, Tracy began to work exclusively with parents and their new babies, helping them make the transition from delivery room to first diapers and eventually into toddlerhood.

In 2001 Tracy, working with her co-author, award-winning journalist Melinda Blau, published her first book, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How To Calm, Connect, and Communicate With Your Baby, which instantly became a New York Times bestseller. Just one year later, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers was published and became a national bestseller as well.  In June 2002 Tracy teamed up with Discovery Health in Great Britain to produce a fifteen-part television series entitled The Baby Whisperer. Each episode demonstrates not only Tracy’s incredible problem-solving skills, but also her compassion for children and parents. In 2004, even as she was battling a life-threatening disease, Tracy and her co-author collaborated on The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems. Because Tracy knew that this might be her last book, she was determined to cover every conceivable problem so that even if she couldn’t help parents personally, her book would.

Sadly, Tracy lost her battle to melanoma on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2004. Still, her legacy lives on in her books, her tapes, her television programmes, and, mostly, the spirit of this website. Babywhisper.com has realized one of Tracy’s greatest dreams: to create a place where thousands of devoted parents can come to share their experiences and to support one another. What she possibly didn’t imagine, though, was that this virtual community would also make sure that her wit and wisdom could never die.

I often think about what would have been if tracy was still with us.  Her work has helped so many people and I only wish i could have met her / spoken with her personally.

You are sadly missed but not forgotten as your work and spirit live on through each of our children.

Thank you Tracy. Your books helped me understand my mistakes and helped me understand my children. I have two amazing kids, 2 yrs old and 7 months old, who are content and happy thanks to your teachings. Even complete strangers comment on how happy they are. They are always smiling and laughing. I lost my mother to lung disease three years before I had my first child, so I really missed out on her advice and experience with children, since she had six kids, so Tracy's books were and still are, my substitute 'mother'.

Tracy's words gave me confidence in caring for a new baby and the strength to gently withstand bad advice from well meaning family and friends. Once I got my baby on the EASY routine, he practically stopped crying altogether, fed and slept so well, it was like a miracle. I still tell everyone I meet with kids, to buy your books. I dread to think what misery and misunderstanding my children would have had to go through, if I hadn't learned your thoughtfull and respectful ways. You had such a big heart - you must have helped millions of people and their children by now - and the most amazing thing is that your wisdom and teachings will continue on - through us mothers now - our children later and our grandchildren in years to come and so on and so on -  possibly forever !!

Your advice and techniques are sound and real and work. Your respectful teachings are timeless. You will never, ever be forgotten - we may still be seeing your books in bookstores, hundreds of years from now, by then it will probably be a computer download directly into our brains, but it will still be your words, your wisdom and your compasion, and will continue to inspire mothers and help children around the world. ( or worlds ?! ) I cannot ever see a reason why people would ever stop listening to your wisdom: and through your words, your spirit will live on for eternity.

Thank you for helping us all so much. May you rest in peace Tracy Hogg and may your family and friends be comforted by the words of us grateful listeners to your whispers.

Tracy's experiences and teachings have continued to inspire me and have no doubt made my life easier and my children happier.  Almost every day I think about how fortunate I am to have read her books and used her methods.  Now that I am successfully using her ideas with baby number two, I can see for myself how her philosophy applies to different temperments and most importantly, stands the test of time.  May she live on in us, our children, our childrens' children...

Tracy Hogg was a teacher, an inspiration, a person I'm proud to have learned from.  She didn't just listen to babies. She heard them.  She's taught countless parents how to hear their babies and she's touched the lives of so many.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who honor Tracy in their daily work on our website, making it possible for Tracy to live on through us.  Thank you to all of our members who take the time to reach out to others who need reassurance, guidance and support.  And a huge thank you to our webmaster who has gone above and beyond the call of duty supporting and maintaining our site.  I think there is no greater tribute to Tracy than his keeping this website alive to carry on her teachings.  Thank you Andy, for the never-ending extent of your efforts.

Bless you Tracy.  You are very much missed.  You are very much remembered.  You are very much alive in all of us.
