need help to stop with clusterfeed!
« on: November 26, 2006, 10:39:47 am »
Hi!
I think I'm doing something wrong, ??? cause my 4.5 months lo is eating every 3 hours and still clusterfeeding at 6pm and 8pm and than at 11 dreamfeed. I am breastfeeding her and she eats very quickly (5-10 minutes), she can stay awake 1.75-2 hours, than nap only 1 hour and eat again, but she less calm than she use to be.
how can I stop her to clusterfeed? she get used to them and looks forword for this meal...
she is eating 7 meals a day.
is it ok or too much for her age?

I think this is my fault cause I like to bf her...

thank you and have a lovely day
yaheli.

Hi there! Welcome to BW!

I clusterfed my ds everyday until I weaned him at 9 months. He looked forward to it, it helped him sleep through the night and was a nice way to have "quiet" time before bath/bedtime.  He dropped feeds during the day as he got older, but never the clusterfeed.  I do recommend that you start making the shift to 4 hour EASY so she's not feeding so many times and becomes a boob-a-holic. The switch will also extend her naps  ;)

Here's the link "Time to Transition", hope it helps you out.

Hi, thank you for your answer!
that is great news that I don't have to stop clusterfeed her! cause we both enjoy it.
I hope to bf her when she will be 9 months!

are you reckon I'll shift to a 4 hours EASY from 3 hours or first try the 3.5 EASY?
cause I'm afraid she will be crying for food!

thank you
yaheli.

Let me know how it goes!  ;)

thank you and I want to know any ideas for the new hours,
now this is 6,9,12,3,6,8,11.
I thought of 2 things: first, to keep her without food another hour till 7am and than start the day by the link you gave me: 7, 10:30, 2, 5:30, 7:30, 11.
second, to do this: 6, 9:30, 1, 4:30, 7, 9, 11.
what is better for her?
oh, I think the first one, but how to keep her another hour without eating?

thanks.

hi there.

I think it may be quite difficult to keep her without feed for an hour from wake up. is 6 her natural wake up time or do you wake her? if she wakes on her own, I'd feed her. maybe closer to 6:30 than 6 but I don't thin she can handle 6am wake up and 7 feed.

maybe you could change evening feeds a bit instead? say 4:30, 7:30 and 11pm?
