won't eat fruit
« on: November 26, 2006, 14:03:06 pm »
DS will have pureed fruit but if I give him whole fruits he doesn't want to know. I don't think its the taste but the texture. Any tips for getting him to eat it or good fruits to try? I've tried banana, grapes, nectarines. Is raw apple to hard?

Riley enjoys most fruits, but sometimes finds it hard to grip them so I roll the chunks in cereal so he has an easier time. Sometimes it is just the texture and they don't want to touch it. Riley will often surprise me and be more adventurous if I offer foods in a different setting or at a different time of day. He will often enjoy food sitting on my lap or on the sofa in the living room. I think he feels more relaxed and that there is no expectations on him to eat as he is not in his high chair. And as with any other food, you really do need to be persistant in offering it, at least 20 times, so that your lo has adequate exposure to it to make up his mind.

We are having the same problem. My DD is a great eater excpet for fruit. She is now at the stage where she won't even eat puree >:(I have bought dried fruit and she eats that so that is what i am giving her at the moment. I am just going to keep offering fruit pieces until she starts eating them i am guessing this is just a phase.
