How Much "A" Time for 8 Month Old?
« on: November 27, 2006, 19:45:52 pm »
How much awake time is typical for an 8 month old?

My DD is awake for 2.5 - 2.75 before her morning nap, 3 hours before her afternoon nap and then anywhere from 3.5 - 4.5 hours before bed.  The last stretch seems too long but she's doing it most days without any complaint.  If she would nap longer in the afternoon, she wouldn't have to be up so long in the evening ... but she's never been a great afternoon napper.  I'm hoping her afternoon naps get better the older she gets (and moves to one long nap).

My lo is 9 months but his schedule was about the same at 8 months.  He does @2.5-3 hours in the morning, @3-3.5 hours in the afternoon, and @3.5-4 hours in the evening.

Hope that helps.

Jenifer,

Your A looks about right for an 8 month old.  If your lo is happy with it I would not worry about changing it too much.  As she gets older she will be able to stretch it more and handle more A time.

Really?  I was expecting to hear that she was up WAY too long!??!  Like I said, most days / nights she's in good spirits.  Sometimes she's rubbing her eyes because she's napping short these days .. but not cranky or whiny, so I suppose she's a little tired some days but handling things on her own.  :-\

Jennifer,

I agree with the previous posts. If she's handling it well then it doesn't need fixing  ;)
