waking screaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: November 29, 2006, 19:45:10 pm »

my son usually sleeps from 7 till 6 but for the past week he has been waking anywhere from10pm to 2am screaming 3hrs after trying to resettle last night i gave in and fed him ??? he hadnt had a night feed for 4 months ??? i dont know what is wrong with him he had a cold last week but seems to be over it now.
he had sicness and diaorhea last month and has only been right for 1 week now this i dont know what to do with him, he is fine at nursery, doesnt bother when i leave etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cant see anything in his mouth, he has 4 teeth at present, no signs of an ear infection, he is constantly whining in the day and cant seem to last longer than 2hrs and needs asleep, when he wakes at night i cant settle him but when i pick him up he goes quite for a min then starts crying again before i have even put him down??????????????????????
i had been giving him medised to help him sleep anyway because of the cold but even that isnt helping now, i have tried calpol and nurofen too.
can anyone shed any light on what has happend to my angel baby!

in my mind any child that wakes up screaming has something big going on.
For what it is worth my ds#2 has had 4 ear infections & the ONLY reason I know is that he slept badly, he never pulled his ears only once had a temp & was mostly happy (all be it a bit more needy) in the day.
The other day I went for his 18mo check up & he had a slight runny nose, but was generally happy, but had woken upset the night before (I put it down to the runny nose) but lo & behold he had ANOTHER double ear infection.
So the first thing I'd suggest if he was sleeping well & is wanting more day sleep etc is to get him checked out by a Dr... as my ds is the example that not all children show classic signs of ear infection until almost burst eardrum stage

I am thinking that there is an ear infection or something else going on too. My DS has behaved similarly when teething though, and I can't always feel anything right away.
