What's a reasonable amout of EBM for a 3 week old to take?
« on: December 01, 2006, 17:54:39 pm »
I just started dd2 on bottles of EBM - I'm trying to do one feed per day to keep her in the habit  ;).  DD1 never took a bottle, so I'm not sure what's a good amount to expect her to drink.  I've been putting 3 oz in, and she takes about 2 but I'm not completely sure she stops there because she's had enough or for other reasons (gas, fussiness,etc.). Any thoughts? TIA!

Here's a nifty calculator to help figure it out. It's meant for babies 1 mo or older, but it looks like a 2 wk old's tummy capacity is about 2 oz. When we gave Mackenzie her first ebm bottle at that age, 2 oz was about right.
