Dh actually made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing in the shape of a giant "1" and put it down on Noah's highchair tray for him to dive into!

He made a mess of it and had a few small bites before we took it away to eat the rest ourselves.

I personally think it's fine for that special day depending on your lo's diet at that point. My son had no allergies so we didn't have to worry about milk, eggs, chocolate, etc and as for the sugar, I suspect most of the time, they get more on their faces then in their tummy's so it's no biggy.
